Second-Hand Child is the unravelling of the creations of the mind to help deal with pain and loss as a result of experiences of being adopted as a baby. These primal wounds are translated through aerial theatre and puppetry, intertwining stories of a birth mother and her daughter at similar points in their lives. For the mother exploring race relations in a small town, the isolation created from being alone through the journey of pregnancy and being simultaneously being a mother and not being able to bring up a child. For the daughter, an exploration of identity and navigating through a world where so much is focused on heritage there isn’t a clear answer of where she is from.
